PTA Governance
The PTA is a registered charity and a member of the National Council of Parent Teacher Associations. You can view the proposed model constitution of the East Sheen PTA on this page.
The core objectives are:
• Developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school;
• Engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.
Annual General Meeting
As a registered charity ESPS PTA has an Annual General Meeting where accounts from the previous year are passed and committee members are re-voted on or voted on for the first time. In order for the AGM to be valid attendance at the AGM must be at least 2 x the size of the committee. Every issue at a General Meeting is decided by one member one vote unless an issue is tied. A simple majority decides a vote.
The PTA committee members for the 2020/2021 year are:
Co-chairs: Dora Georgiadou, Justyna Sandomierska-Wasik, Dan Guzman, Andrew Young and Basak Yagci
Treasurer: Andrew Young
Class Rep Co-ordinators: Alex Watson Jones
President: Debbie Canner
Committee Meetings
Committee meetings take place on a termly basis. Typically, an agenda would cover the financial position, current project status, future project status and fundraising initiatives. The committee members are empowered to agree on the financing of projects up to the value of £5000.
Minutes of committee meetings will be published on the school website within 2 weeks of the meeting.
If there is a proposal for an item which exceeds £5k in value the PTA must call an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) where the proposal is discussed and voted on.
