How to support East Sheen Primary School

How you can support East Sheen Primary

At East Sheen Primary we are proud of our community and how school and homework together for the benefit of our children.

There are many ways to support the school and all help is very gratefully received.

Giving your time to the school

Volunteers are so valuable in school and many parents, carers and friends of the school give their time to help with activities in class such as reading, art or cooking.  If you would like to help with any of these activities, please contact your class representative.

Other people support us by gardening or through offering specific skills.  A wonderful example of the school community working together was the green wall where time and expertise were required to research solutions and secure funding through grants and the parent community.

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a very active group in school and regularly requires support to organise events such as the Christmas Fair, Quiz Night or Fun Run.  And of course, you can show your support for the school by taking part in the activities that the PTA organises.

Supporting the school financially

If you would like to support the school but struggle to find the time to volunteer, you may prefer to give a financial donation.  There are two routes by which to do this.

The PTA Fund

The PTA run a ‘Coffee Fund’ where supporters can donate a regular amount each week – just the price of a coffee a week can make a big difference collectively, with an extra top-up from Gift Aid.  Please see posters around the school and scan the QR code to make a regular donation.

The PTA hold an annual general meeting where parents and teachers join together to agree funding commitments for the year ahead.  This year, monies have been pledged to fund laptops and other IT equipment, reading books, science workshops, classroom beanbags and cushions and outdoor play equipment.  Future fundraising will be targeted for larger projects such as a Wellbeing Hub and repair of the astro field.

The School Fund

The School Fund was set up by the governors to ensure that, when funding from the government is stretched, there are extra monies immediately available for whenever the school needs them. This could be for example to support long term school improvements or to deal with urgent maintenance issues when they arise.  Parents can make one off or regular donations to the fund and using the Gift Aid scheme makes this tax effective for everyone.

Since the fund started, over £75,000 has been raised, which, alongside PTA funding, has helped to finance large building and infrastructure projects that are not covered by our annual budget or local authority grants, such as the school kitchen, the electronic sign-in and security system as well as the resurfacing of playground. We now need to build the fund up again, so we can continue to support such projects.

Maybe you are new to the school and would like to donate towards your children’s future here.  Perhaps your children are soon leaving, and you would like to contribute as a thank you to the school.  Please follow the link below to the Donate button on our website.
