Year 6
Welcome to our Year 6 page! Year 6 at East Sheen Primary School is an exciting and pivotal year for our students as they prepare for the transition to secondary school. Alongside preparing for SATs, Year 6 children engage in a rich and stimulating curriculum designed to challenge, inspire, and develop their skills across a wide range of subjects.
This year, our topics include Ancient Egypt, Victorian Britain, the study of light, evolution, and climate change. In addition, students will explore the works of various authors and delve into key texts, from The Jabberwocky to Kensuke’s Kingdom, while developing their writing and analytical skills through drama and creative projects. We also encourage independent learning and problem-solving through practical science experiments, fieldwork, and history-based workshops.
Year 6 students have many exciting responsibilities, such as being House Captains, Sports Captains, and leaders in the Green Team. They also represent the school in sporting and singing competitions and act as role models for younger children.
Throughout the year, Year 6 will take part in memorable trips and experiences, including visits to the British Museum, a residential trip to PGL, and immersive workshops, all helping to bring their learning to life.
With plenty of fun, challenges, and opportunities for personal growth, Year 6 is a year of reflection, achievement, and celebration. Stay updated on the exciting events and learning experiences happening throughout the year!
