Reception
Welcome to our Reception page! At East Sheen Primary School, Reception is a vibrant and exciting year where children begin their educational journey in a nurturing and engaging environment. This year is all about discovering the world around them, developing essential skills, and building a love for learning through play and exploration.
In Reception, we cover a range of fascinating topics designed to capture children's imaginations and encourage curiosity. These include All About Me, Day and Night, People Who Help Us, All Around the World, Traditional Tales, Life Cycles, and The Blue Planet. Through these topics, children explore different aspects of the world, develop social and emotional skills, and begin to understand how they fit into the wider community.
Our approach is based on hands-on, play-based learning, where children have the opportunity to engage with a variety of resources, both inside and outside the classroom. Whether it’s building in the outdoor area, creating art, or exploring nature, every day is filled with exciting activities that promote learning and development.
Reception is also a time for building important foundations in literacy and numeracy, setting children up for success in future years. We celebrate every child’s individual progress, helping them to grow in confidence, independence, and enthusiasm for learning.
