PTA
Welcome to the East Sheen Primary School Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
What is the PTA?
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at East Sheen Primary School was founded in 1972 and is a registered charity (No. 273295), proudly part of The National Council of Parent Teacher Associations. Our mission is simple: to raise funds that help create the best possible learning environment for our children.
We do this by organising fun and engaging events that bring together our incredible school community and raise money for projects that go beyond the school’s standard budget.
Each year, the school receives government funding based on factors such as pupil numbers. However, per-pupil funding has decreased since 2010, and with rising costs, schools are under increasing pressure to find alternative income sources. The PTA’s fundraising efforts play a crucial role in providing the extra support the school needs.
What We’ve Achieved So Far
Thanks to the unwavering support of our school community—parents, teachers, local businesses, and more—the PTA has successfully raised over £150,000 in the past three years alone. Here’s how these funds have been spent to directly benefit our children:
-
£50,000 for the replacement of the school’s astroturf (a vital recreational area for the children)
-
£45,000 for classroom supplies, ensuring every child has the resources they need to thrive
-
£11,000 for upgrading information technology
-
£4,000 for book purchases
-
£6,000 for school gardening projects
-
£2,000 for playground improvements
-
£2,000 for Year 6 leaving gifts
-
£8,000 for the construction of a school stage
-
£5,000 for the Headteacher’s Fund
-
£2,000 for uniforms
Without these funds, some of these essential resources might not have been possible. Together, we are making a difference in our children’s education every day!
Who Makes Up the PTA?
By default, all parents and guardians of children at East Sheen Primary are members of the PTA. The PTA is run by a committee of volunteers, typically serving for two years, and always includes at least one teacher representative. Currently, our PTA President is Harry Page.
You don’t need to be on the committee to get involved! Attending meetings, volunteering at events, or simply supporting our fundraising efforts can have a big impact.
How Can You Get Involved?
There are many ways to get involved in the PTA, whether you can donate a bit of time, expertise, or simply lend a hand when needed. We have a wonderful team of “PTA Supporters” who help us on an ad-hoc basis.
If you have a specific skill—be it in event planning, design, web development, music, or marketing—we’d love to have your help! But if you're also happy to help with smaller tasks like pouring coffee, counting donations, or setting up for events, that’s just as valuable. Every bit of help makes a big difference, and no contribution is too small.
