How to support East Sheen Primary School

How You Can Support East Sheen Primary

At East Sheen Primary, we are incredibly proud of our strong community and the way the school and families work together for the benefit of our children.

There are many ways you can support the school, and every contribution is deeply appreciated.

Giving Your Time to the School

Volunteers play a vital role at East Sheen, and many parents, carers, and friends generously give their time to support classroom activities, such as reading, art, or cooking. If you would like to help with any of these activities, please reach out to your class representative.

Additionally, some people lend their expertise in other areas, such as gardening or offering specific skills. One standout example of our community working together was the creation of our green wall, where time and expertise were key to researching solutions and securing funding through grants and parent contributions.

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is also an active and dedicated group that regularly needs support organizing events like the Christmas Fair, Quiz Night, and Fun Run. Participating in these events is another fantastic way to show your support for the school.

Supporting the School Financially

If you’d like to support the school but find it difficult to volunteer, financial donations are always welcome. There are two main ways you can contribute:

The PTA Fund

The PTA runs a "Coffee Fund," where supporters can donate the cost of a weekly coffee – just a small amount can make a huge difference when combined with contributions from others, especially with an added boost from Gift Aid. Look for posters around the school or scan the QR code to set up a regular donation.

The PTA also holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM) where parents and teachers come together to decide on funding priorities for the upcoming year. This year, funds have been earmarked to purchase laptops and other IT equipment, reading books, science workshops, classroom beanbags and cushions, and outdoor play equipment. Future fundraising efforts will focus on larger projects, such as a Wellbeing Hub and repairs to the astro field.

Every form of support helps to enrich the experience for our students, and we are so grateful for the ongoing generosity of our community.

The School Fund

The School Fund was established by the governors to ensure that, when government funding falls short, we have additional financial resources readily available for the school’s needs. This fund helps support long-term improvements and allows us to address urgent maintenance issues as they arise. Parents can contribute with one-off or regular donations, and through the Gift Aid scheme, these donations become even more tax-efficient for everyone involved.

Since its inception, the School Fund has raised over £75,000. This, combined with PTA funding, has enabled us to finance significant building and infrastructure projects that are not covered by our annual budget or local authority grants. These projects have included the school kitchen, the electronic sign-in and security system, as well as resurfacing the playground. To continue supporting such vital projects, we now need to replenish the fund.

If you are new to the school, this is a great opportunity to contribute towards the future of your child’s education here. Alternatively, if your child is soon to leave, making a donation as a thank you to the school is a meaningful way to show your appreciation. To contribute, please follow the link to the “Donate” button on our website.
