PTA Governance

About the PTA

The PTA is a registered charity and a proud member of the National Council of Parent Teacher Associations. Our constitution is available for viewing on this page for those interested in understanding our structure and purpose.

The core objectives of the PTA are:

  • Building Strong Relationships: We work to foster effective relationships between the staff, parents, and everyone connected to the school.

  • Supporting the School's Development: We engage in activities and provide resources, facilities, or equipment that support the school and help enhance the educational experience for the students.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

As a registered charity, the East Sheen Primary School PTA holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM) where the accounts for the previous year are reviewed, and committee members are either re-elected or elected for the first time. For the AGM to be valid, attendance must be at least twice the size of the committee.

At the AGM, decisions are made on a one-member, one-vote basis, unless there is a tie, in which case a simple majority vote decides the issue.

The PTA Committee Members for the 2024/2025 year are:

  • Co-chairs: Jessica Rettie, Esteban Gonzalez Torres, Anjali Doshi, Gemma Harvey, Aditi Daga, Katy Blessley, Andries Louw, Mustafa Ozyurt

  • Treasurer: Neil Abrey

  • Class Rep Co-ordinators: Anjali Doshi, Gemma Harvey

  • President: Harry Page (Headteacher)

Committee Meetings

The PTA committee meets on a termly basis to discuss important matters. Typical agendas include:

  • Financial updates

  • Status reports on current projects

  • Planning for upcoming initiatives

  • Fundraising opportunities

Committee members have the authority to approve the financing of projects up to £5,000.

Meeting minutes will be published on the school website within two weeks following each committee meeting, ensuring transparency and keeping the community informed.

If a proposal exceeds the £5,000 limit, an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) must be called, where the proposal will be discussed and voted upon by the members.
