Volunteers
At East Sheen Primary School, we recognise the crucial role parents play as the first educators of their children, and we strive to build on this foundation through a strong and ongoing partnership between home and school.
With the support of parents and volunteers, our curriculum is enriched by a wide variety of activities and experiences. By involving volunteers, we provide children with more opportunities to engage in meaningful conversations, receive individual attention, build their self-esteem, improve concentration, and ultimately make learning more effective and enjoyable.
It is essential that our volunteers have a positive experience as well. We ensure they feel confident, supported, and well-informed about the tasks they are asked to undertake, knowing their contributions are truly valued by everyone at the school.
East Sheen Primary School is always eager to welcome new volunteers who want to work alongside teachers for the benefit of all students. The wide range of tasks already undertaken by volunteers is a testament to the generosity of parents and others, and the staff and governors are deeply grateful for this support throughout the school year.
If you're interested in contributing—whether by visiting as a guest speaker, offering a demonstration, working with children on a one-off visit, or helping regularly—please contact the school office.
Confidentiality
It is crucial that everything that happens in the classroom remains confidential. Even positive comments about a child’s work or conduct can be misinterpreted. Please refrain from discussing any child’s progress or behaviour with anyone other than the teacher.
Criminal Records Check
In line with the regulations set by the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames, all volunteers in the school must undergo clearance through the Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS) to ensure the safety of our pupils. If you are interested in accompanying a class on a trip or helping in the classroom, please contact Becky Webster to complete the necessary paperwork.
