The PTA is a registered charity and a member of the National Council of Parent Teacher Associations. You can view the proposed model constitution of the East Sheen PTA on this page.
The core objectives are:
• Developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school;
• Engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.
Annual General Meeting
As a registered charity ESPS PTA has an Annual General Meeting where accounts from the previous year are passed and committee members are re-voted on or voted on for the first time. In order for the AGM to be valid attendance at the AGM must be at least 2 x the size of the committee. Every issue at a General Meeting is decided by one member one vote unless an issue is tied. A simple majority decides a vote.
The PTA committee for the 2017/2018 year is:
Co-chairs: Margie Payne & Louisa Platt
Secretary: Patricia O’Rorke
Tresurer: Tracey Hastings
Class Rep Co-ordinators: Hetty Dawson & Mel Edwards
Other Officer(s): Hero Preston, Liz Helstrom, Sabrina Bulloch, Jess Ward, Jane Ouvaroff, Amanda Jones, Jessica Oliver and Alison Scott.
Committee meetings take place on a termly basis. Typically, an agenda would cover the financial position, current project status, future project status and fundraising initiatives. The committee members are empowered to agree on the financing of projects up to the value of £5000.
Minutes of committee meetings will be published on the school website within 2 weeks of the meeting.
If there is a proposal for an item which exceeds £5k in value the PTA must call an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) where the proposal is discussed and voted on.
Committee Meeting dates:
Tuesday 21st November – Annual General meeting
Tuesday 9th January – Spring Term PTA meeting
Tuesday 8th May – Summer Term PTA meeting
Subjects for fundraising can come from parents or the teachers. They are proposed to the PTA committee and discussed at one of the meetings. All parents can attend these meetings or propose something for fundraising. If a parent is unable to attend a meeting but has an opinion that they wish to share they should do so by putting their views in writing to the Conference co-chairs or submitting their comment using the PTA Suggestion Box. All views will be communicated in the meeting. While only committee members have a formal vote based on the constitution all opinions can be submitted for review at PTA meetings and will be given equal weight.
All meeting minutes, fundraising requests or PTA formal literature will be posted on http://www.esps-pta.co.uk/documents/
