ESPS has a smooth time!

Over the past 8 weeks ESPS has been trailing a new school's program 'Taste Not Waste'. The pilot was launched at ESPS in September by Richard Reed, founder of Innocent, together with MP Zac Goldsmith.

Taste Not Waste is an inniative launched by the number one smoothie brand in the UK, Innocent, with support from their friends food waste organisation, A Taste of Freedom and food donation charity FareShare.

Every week in the UK each of us throw away 5 potions of fruit. The Tatse Not Waste project has been turning perfectly good excess fruit that would have been discarded into smoothies for the children.

Key Stage 2 pupils have been learning about food waste and making delicious smoothies using a pedal powered blender! (See photos) The smoothies are then distributed through the school.

Many, many thanks to all of the wonderful parents who gave up their time to come in and chop fruit.

To mark the end of the trial, Year 5 pupils will be travelling up to Trafalger Square to participate in 'Feeding the 5000' on 18th November. For more information visit www.feeding5k.org
